The pelvic fault

In the last blog, we talked about diagnosing the cause for some common lower back pain. We identified if we were by default, stuck in “flexion” or “extension” (if these words don’t mean anything to you, reference back to the last blog post and watch the attached video).

While seeking professional help from a chiropractor, massage therapist or physiotherapist would be ideal; this isn’t always something everyone can do. There are a lot of ways that we can “treat” ourselves. Whether it be fixing an ache or pain that has come up, or just helping realign things before they become an issue.

The attached video in this week’s blog is again by Dr. Kelly Starrett. His “Mobility Wod” series on YouTube is second to none in the mobilization and movement world. If you have an ache or pain any where in your body, give his channel a search and chances are he will already have a video up addressing it.

In this video he specifically talks about realigning the pelvis. This will in turn loosen up and “unglue” that low back. Some simple tricks of the trade. While it is a little wordy at the beginning, stick with it and the exercises are explained and demonstrated to we can all self-treat some of those pelvic alignment issues.

Take care of your body! We only get the one. Spend time daily doing some kind of “self-treatment”. The simple stretches, movements or exercises done daily will make a huge difference in your training health and longevity.
