Last week three of our power lifters represented team Canada at the Commonwealth Power Lifting championships in Richmond BC.
All very experience lifters, and well-decorated athletes, they had no problem facing competition from all over the Commonwealth.
Jessie Buydens was first up and secured a silver medal. Kent Brown would be up next in the men’s 66 kilos weight class. He performed well posting his best competition total and secured a bronze medal.
Young upstart Paul Farbacher would do what he does best, win! Paul had some stiff competition. His number one competitor opened at a squat that broke Paul’s previous World record. That’s right, his opponents opening lift broke Paul’s World record. Paul would not be deterred and took his world record squat back by besting his opponents lift on his second attempt. They would both battle back and forth until Paul would be successful at 607lbs squat and his opponent would miss his last lift. Paul also went on to break the bench world record and the total.
Please help me congratulate all three of these athletes on an incredible performance.
