Happy Monday Friends! If you have been following along with the budgeting tips this past week, you will notice that there is a similarity between keeping your finances in check as well as your weight.
We are in the second week of January and mostly back to routine. No matter how careful you are, the holidays are filled with more cookies, chocolates and cocktails. It is good to celebrate and enjoy all the indulgences as long as it doesn't start in November and follow through past Valentine's day. Just like your finances, your nutrition is what you do consistently over time. If you are always grabbing a couple cookies on your afternoon coffee break, it will add up over time.
This is where habits come in. Now that you are a week into January, are you still feeding your sugar habit? Are you still having cocktails regularly, because, well, why not? If you have, it's time to get back to healthier habits. If you have a bunch of leftover sweets, give them away or freeze them and you can take them out at a later date. This takes away the temptation of having them readily available. Take note of when you crave them and why. Are you bored? Do you need a little "pick-me-up"? Swap the sweet for a green tea or a walk. Getting some movement and fresh air always does the trick to add a little energy. If you are actually hungry, grab a fruit or some veggies along with some nuts or seeds. If you don't "feel" like it - you are not hungry. These unhealthier habits are hard to kick, so be strict with yourself. Before long, you won't have the cravings and you will feel a more constant energy throughout the day.
