Personal Fitness and Company KPI's

January is a time when may of us goal set personally and professionally.  Individuals are looking to get healthy after indulging over the past 2 months of Christmas parties, drinks, and baking.  Suddenly, it seems that lake season is right around the corner.   People tend to feel a little tired, under motivated and maybe a little “fluffier” at this time of year.  We want to not only look better but feel better too.

Companies are back in full swing after the Christmas season as well.  After closing out the year, they are busy planning to see how they can increase profits, achieve targets, and reach all their goals in the upcoming year.

The truth is all these companies are comprised of the individuals that I mentioned.  If people are feeling not at their best, they will not be performing their best.  For companies to get the best out of their people, they need to support them and ensure that they are the best versions of themselves.  This will vary by person, but there is one constant: HEALTH!

If companies want to get the best out of their employees, they should prioritise their health and fitness.  If someone is eating well, exercising regularly, limiting alcohol, and getting the recommended sleep every day, they will in turn be healthier, more energized, and happier.  Those employees will take fewer sick days and they will have more energy to bring more to their day.

There is a company that bonuses its employees for achieving minimum sleep targets.  How brilliant is that?  By encouraging healthy habits, the employee feels valued, and they are more capable to bring their best selves to work everyday. Imagine if your compensation was tied to healthy habits.  You could get and extra $100/month for reaching your sleep targets, $100/month for reaching minimum exercise targets and $100/month for achieving a target for healthy eating.  That ends up being $3600/year if the employee hits every target every month.  I bet that it is far less than lost days for sickness, stress leave or employee turnover costs for a company.  And, I don’t know about you, but I would welcome a little extra cash every month and feel incredibly valued knowing that my health and wellness is important to my employer.

The team at Prairie Machine know the value of a healthy lifestyle.  The executive team regularly train and understand the importance of being active and healthy.  They wanted to share this with the rest of their organization and brought them in to train with Jason this past weekend.  They want their staff to feel their best so that they can be their best.  Thank you for trusting CrossFit 306 with your training needs.  We look forward to many more years of sharing fitness with the team at Prairie Machine.
