3 on 3 Throwdown - A weekend like no other!

Wow!

That's the best way to describe this incredible weekend.  The 3 on 3 Throwdown was a huge success!  Athletes were pushed to their limits, fans were treated to some cool WODs, and everybody partied until the wee hours of the night.

In the scale division, Little Idiots form Cuju Condionning in Lloydminster dominated the first three WODs and secured their spot in the semi-finals.  They would face the 306 Tigers led by Logan Brown working with Daniel Wolfe, and Sarah Unrau.  The Tigers battled through a tough pool edging out Laurie Thomson's "Under Construction" and Destini Jackson's Kokum Boys.  The other semi-finalist would be 306's English Cowpokes made up of powerhouses Mel Johnson, Aaron Johnson, and Tim Gabb facing off against Functional Dysfunction.  The semi-final WOD consisting of two minute AMRAPS of both Stones and Ropes proved to be the undoing for the heavily favored Little Idiots from Cujo Condionning as their inexperience on ropes cost them a birth in the finals.  The Tigers would move forward and await the winner of the second semi-final.  The second semi played well into the English Cowpokes hands as Mel Johnson and Aaron move the stone and tire with ease and Tim put on a display on the ropes.

The finals would be a true testament of strength, skill, and stamina.  The combination of bench press, full cleans, and chest to bar push up, along with 1000M run and 1000 m row would push the finalist to their limits.  In the end The English Cowpokes took top spot in the scale division, and The Tigers would finish second.

The Rx division was thrilling all day.  A late scratch by Synergy's Top Male, Matt Bathgate would open things up in Pool #3 for Dylan Weller, Chris Maclean, and Jodi Cowen of Functionally Fit.  The first Pool would be dominated by 306's Parker's revenge consisting of Aaron Parker, Ty Prosofsky, and Viki Cirkwencic.  Parker's revenge posted the top scores across the board as they coasted to the semi-finals.  Pool #2 had a few lead changes with Synergy's Vertically Challenge winning the first WOD, however 306's Ex Pats would win the next two and move on to the semi-finals.  The last pool was up for grabs after two WODs with VO2 Max's Heavy Hitters and 306's Need More bench each winning one of the first two WODs.  With the last WOD consisting of HDST things look promising for Need More Bench as both Laura Werhkamp and Jamie Turuk have HDST as some of their favorite movements.  However VO2MAX would not be denied their birth into semi-finals as they won the final WOD and their respective pool.

The first semi-final consisted of Parker's revenge versus F3 of Cold Lake.  306's Parker's Revenge would accumulate a total of 55 reps the highest of the day, making their claim as the team to beat going into the finals.  VO2Max lead by Brett and Janine Shillington with Leigh Batty would handle the stones with ease and outwork 306's Ex Pats consisting of Amanda Belchamber, Mike Gore-Hickman, and Jon Turchenek.

The final was exciting with the lead being exchanged multiple times.  In the end, VO2 Max's Heavy Hitters would take it over 306's Parker's Revenge.

Thanks to all of our volunteers, all of the athletes, and all of the spectators, for making this an incredible event.  Looking forward to next year!
