Gala Night Recap

On Saturday the 22nd, 306 in collaboration with the Saskatoon Club hosted our first annual Year End Gala.  The event was created to have a chance to share a meal with all our members, dress up, and celebrate a great year.  The five course meal prepared by Gold Medal plate Winner and 306 member Chef Anthony McCarthy was outstanding.  The room was warm and cozy, and the members all got in the swing of things early with a comment coming from the staff, "Hey I thought these were the fit freaks?...They sure drink like their not!", The night featured a slide show which can be access on my Facebook Page, followed by presentation of some awards.

The first award went to Aaron Johnson in recognition for all his hard work in healing all of the athletes at our numerous competitions.  Aaron travels on his own dime to support our athletes in competition, possess a zen like quality, and has become an integral part of the 306 family.

The next Award was the Female 306 Community Leader Award.  This was presented to Amanda Belchamber.  Amanda has been a pleasure to coach from her first day at 306.  Always smiling and supporting her teammates, she can out cheer anyone both in practice and in competition.  She also willed her team to win the Sweat RX Prairie Regional, and followed that performance with a clean sweep of the competition in Grande Prarie.  Congratulations Amanda!

The final Award was the Male 306 Community Leader Award. This was presented to Aaron "Wonderkid " Parker.  Aaron joined us in February, was linking muscle ups within the first two weeks, his fierce competitiveness drove him to earning a spot on our Regional Team for the CrossFit Games.  Aaron helped the team to a 7th place finish, then was an integral part of the team that won the Sweat Rx Regionals, and then concluded the year with a Bronze Medal finish at the Sweat RX National Championships.  However Aaron wins this award not for his athletic prowess alone, but for his day to day conduct within 306.  Everyday that Aaron trains, upon finishing he is there supporting his fellow athletes to finish the WODs, and he can often be found helping people improve their technique on numerous skills.  Congratulations Aaron!
