3 Gold Medals, 2 Provincial Records, 1 Hellava day!

Four of us from 306 drove down to Moose Jaw for our inaugural Olympic Lifting meet on Saturday.  Leo Belcourt, Courtney Bowman, and myself all competed and we where cheered on by Erin Kemp.  The event was incredibly fun and very well organized.  All the athletes were supportive and everyone tried to give each other helpful hints and words of encouragment.  Courtney was up first and she set the bar really high for the rest fo us to follow.  She would open with a 65KG snatch lift tying the current provinicial record for her weight class.  She would then move up to a 70KG lift.  She missed her second attempt but was successful on her third setting a new Provincial record by 5 kilos.  BTW this is still 5Kilos under her current PR.  On the Clean and Jerk Courtney would be called for a press out on her inital lift at 80KG.  Not to be undone she moved on right to 85KG setting a new Provincial Record, and then breaking her new record two minutes later with a 88KG C&J and giving herself a new PR in the process.

Leo won the 105KG weight class.  He finished with a successful snatch lift of 75KG.  On the clean and Jerk the judges were would mark his lifts unsuccessful the result of pressing out slighlty on his jerks.  He still managed to put 104Kilos over his head three times, way to go Leo.

I had a great day acting as coach and athlete.  I won my weight class but did not PR.  I was successful with a 95KG snatch, and 115 C&J.  I had a press out at 120KG, and then at 125 I did a double dip which disqualified my lift.

Overall an outstanding performance by 306 on our very first Oly meet.

In the words of my old Oly coach,
