Oh what a night!

Oh what a night!  This past weekend, we came together as a community to celebrate the year and enjoy eachothers company.  This was our 3rd gala event and I think that it was the best one yet.  I kind of think of the gym as another child, infancy in our first year.  Learning to navigate and have some big growth spurts much like a toddler, in our 2nd year.  Now, we are coming into our own.  We have established a strong community of people, many of whom have been with us from the start.  We have developed as athletes and as individuals.  We have shared life experiences with eachother; births, deaths, relationships, break-ups, new jobs and loss of jobs.  Although we all have a story individual to ourselves, we come together and make the story of 306.  I have to say that I think it is a great story and I look forward to seeing how the rest of the chapters play out.

Each year we give a 'community leader award' to one male and one female.  This award goes to the individuals that really exemplifies the values of 306.  They don't have to be the athletes with the best scores, nor do they even have to ever compete.  They do have to lead by example.  They must be kind to everyone, encouraging, hardworking, and humble. We have our work cut out for us when we have to make a selection as all of our members are awesome. However, the 2 athletes that won the award this year are very well deserving.    Wayne Dust and Holly Deshaye always come in and train hard.  No matter what class they attend, they always are welcoming to everyone there, especially new members.  They are very coachable and always trust the process.  Its just really nice to have them around.  Congratualtions Wayne and Holly - we are lucky to have you at 306!

We had great food and drinks with even better people.  "Life is like a camera.  Focus on what's important.  Capture the good times.  And if things don't work out, just take another shot."  Thank you all for making our story a great one.  Until next year...
