12 days of fit-mas

First, let me say Merry Christmas to everyone. Thank you for making Reebok Crossfit 306 a part of your life. As a coach, I feel blessed to be able to call the people I get to spend an hour of my day with friends.  I hope you enjoy the hour of your day that you invest in your fitness and health and value it as much as I do.

From December 23rd through January 1st we will have limited hours at the gym to allow our staff time to enjoy the Christmas and New Years season with the people they love, doing things they enjoy. For some of us, this might mean not being able to get in to the gym as frequently as usual. That does not mean you can not be active!

On December 24th we are hosting the annual “12 Days of Christmas” wod at the gym. It promises to be a good time so dress up in your favourite Christmas attire and come on in for a super fun workout. In an effort to keep the commitment you have made to your health going, I am going to add to the wod on the 24th.

Here is Coach TJ’s “12 Days of Fit-mas” (see what I did there?!) list for you. I ran out of fingers at 10 but as best I could count, starting December 21st to January 1st is twelve days. Try and check off 12 of these activities between those dates.  You are all functional and fit human beings and one of the biggest benefits of this is being able to be active outside the gym as well.

  1. Go ice skating. Find a local rink, pond or lake and spend some time on it.

  2. Do 200 air squats for time.

  3. Walk twenty flights of stairs. Hint, you don’t need a twenty story building. Walking up one storey twenty times is the same thing.

  4. Perform 10-9-8...1 of handstand push ups and V-ups (push ups and sit ups).

  5. Pull a sleigh with someone or something in it around the block four times.

  6. Accumulate 5 minutes in each position of front, right and left side plank.

  7. Shovel your’s and your neighbours walkway/driveway.

  8. Accumulate 10 minutes sitting in the bottom of a perfect squat.

  9. Do ten full laps of the mall of your choice. (Run if you’re feeling extra freaky and see how it takes for security to start chasing you. Please record this).

  10. Do 200 burpees for time. Yes, 200.

  11. Go swimming. I won’t even make you do “lanes”. Just go and enjoy some time in the water.

  12. Perform 28-21-15-9-6-3 of air squats, push ups, V-ups and burpees.

Do each of these twelve activities to the exertion level that you have broke a sweat by the end of it and guarantee you will come back in to the gym in the new year feeling like you haven’t missed a beat (alcohol consumption pending).

I hope you are able to enjoy the season and everything that it brings!  Sincerely, thank you for being a part of our community and making it what it is. Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing all of you in the next decade!
