306 Shines at the 2015 Cast Iron Classic
This past weekend, 306 athletes once again tested their mettle against some of the best in the area at the annual CIC hosted by Synergy Strength. As always are athletes were up to task, they came in well prepared, supportive of each other and ready to seize the moment.
In the Brute division, Pinkies and the Brain –Brad, Wayne, Carly and Kristen, set the started in this division consistently placing in the top five in all WODs and taking first overall. The team displayed great effort and synergy.
Graham, Charlie, Rochelle and Holly L also had a blast under team ‘Big Town Straight Swoll and had back-to-back top ten finishes in WODs 3 and 4. Nick, Ben, Erin, and Chelsea represented our third team in this division. Displayed their capacity in the Conga line WOD with a top ten finish.
In the Beast division Beth, Nat, Woo, and Steven Lund were strong out of the gates with a top ten finish and continued to battle through the day with fierce determination and even had coach Beth get her first ever bar muscle up!
Coaches Joel and Matt partnered with Joel’s girlfriend from Calgary, Amanda, along with another Calgary native, Morgan, and posted three top ten finishes.
I took the opportunity to partner up with old friends that are all regional level athletes. Our team was able to win four out of five workouts.
At the end of the day 306 athletes received the following honours. First in the Brute division, 2nd in the Beast division. Natalie Jarrett and Coach Woo also received the “Movement Quality Award” for displaying a high level of virtuosity all day long.
