Lessons we learn from Fairytales

Dr. Greg Wells gives an amazing analogy about making deliberate choices to achieve our greater purpose using a conversation between Alice and the Cheshire Cat.

"Would you tell me please, which way do I do from here?" Alice went on.

"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to." said the Cat.

"I don't much care where," said Alice.

"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.

The truth is that if you don't have clear and defined goals or vision for your life, it really doesn't matter what you do. You can really "fly by the seat of your pants" and see where the wind takes you. This could end up being amazing or it could end up making you feel like life is happening to you and you don't have much say in it.

I am all for the adventure (way more when I didn't have 3 kids, I am not going to lie) but I also like to ensure that I get to set the direction of my sails. Honestly, even with all my plans, life tends to throw curve balls my way all of the time. It's okay though. I know that I still have a plan and sometimes I have to take the scenic route or a detour, but I am still heading towards my destination. Making plans sets you up for success. From planning your meals, to your workout sessions, to your finances to date night with your partner - you need to make things happen or they will just happen to you. Start small and implement your goals into all areas of your life and see how it improves things for you. Planning while managing your expectations is key. Remember, things rarely go as planned, but the plan helps us to stay the course.
