Nutritional Seminar

This Saturday, December 08th will be the first nutritional seminar that we will be holding this month.  We will also be holding a session on Sunday, December 16th.  The question that we get asked most often is. "what should I eat to get leaner?" or a version of that.  In an effort to help answer that question, we teamed up with Whole9Life, a Paleo Lifestyle company based in the USA.  We have put together a 90 page manual on Paleo eating...the what to eat, why to eat it guide to getting your nutrition in line for optimal health.  Sam Mitchell will be presenting on our behalf.  She has her masters in nutritional science, is an athlete and has some great tips and advice on how to improve our diet.  She has put together a presentation to go through the manual and taken it a step further to give you the science based answers to your questions.  Cost is $50/person and you get to take the guide book with you.  You will also have time to ask Sam any specific questions at that time.  Sign up sheets are at the front desk, so please let us know if you will be attending.  If you want to bring anyone outside of the gym, you are more than welcome, just sign them up at the front.

1st Annual Reebok CrossFit 306 Christmas Gala

As Halloween ends, I guess it is time to move on to the next holiday....Christmas;).  December 01st marks our 1 year anniversary at 306...what a year it has been.  We usually celebrate holidays with some epic WODs, but we decided we wanted to add something special this year.  We will be having a 'gala' night at the Saskatoon Club.  Award winning chef, Anthony McCarthy is putting together an amazing menu for us and it gives us a great opportunity to come together in something other than our spandex;).  More details will be coming, but pencil us in for the 22nd...I know holiday calendars fill up quickly.  Looking forward to celebrating with you!

Now lets get ready for Grande Prarie!

Halloween Spooktacular recap

The day started with the incredible Hulk patiently waiting for his fellow CrossFitters.   A man right out of the eighties would walk in first followed by Joe Dirt and Thing 1.  Within an hour the gym was packed with cavemen and cavewoman, 80's fitness fanatics, Pipi Longstocking, a girls pajama party, but the question remained, where's Waldo?  After 4 Wods including FRANkeistein, Count Dracula, BATTATA, and the Epic finish, the A team would sit alone a top the podium.  Thanks everyone for another memorable day at 306!

Schedule Improvements

Hey everyone,

As of Monday Oct 29 we will now be offering a 3PM CrossFit WOD Monday through Friday.  We will also be moving our popular Olympic lifting training back to its regular time of 7-8:30 M,W,F.  This effectively means that we will be eliminating the 7PM on Mondays and Wednesdays only.  The 7PMs on Tuesdays and Thursdays will continue.
In health,

Until further notice no drop ins or new members will be added.  Please email jason@crossfitreebok306.com to get on our wait list.

Spooktacular Halloween Party at 306

They say you haven't WODed until you've done it in costume.  Well 306, here is your chance.  Come and show off your best Halloween costumes on Saturday, Oct 27th.  The festivities will begin at 10:30 AM and conclude at 2:30PM.  Teams of four will be created on site and compete in a series of devillish WODs.  Don't worry if you have just started or have been with us for months, all workouts and movements are scaled to the individual.  It will be a fun day and one you won't want to miss.  We will have activities set up for the kids as well, so if you want to bring your little ones all dressed up, they are all welcome and will get some treats too;).

We will be awarding prizes for best costumes, and the winning team.   There will be sign up sheets at the front desk at the gym.  Please let us know if you will be coming.  There will be a sheet for adults as well as kids.  This will help us to plan the logistics of the day.  We look forward to an awesome community event!

Medals Galore!

306 was again well represented at this past weekend's Saks Open Olympic Lifting meet.  We brought seven athletes and all with the exclusion of myself were at their first lifting meet.  Nerves were high but the lifts were higher.  When the chalk settled we all left Regina with medals around our necks and grins on our face.  Here are the results from this weekend.

Melanie Johnson, Gold
Dwayne Cronje, Gold
Coach, Gold
Beth Kotsur, Silver
Viki Cirkvencic, Silver
Rob Lovelace, Silver
Laurie Thomson, Bronze

Special thanks to Aaron Johnson for attending to our sore muscles, you rock Aaron!

306 Puts forward a dominating performance at the BCBD!

Well as I sit here sipping on my latte and reflect on the last two days of competition I can't help but smile.  After two crushing days of WODs our team fared incredibly well.
In the women's Brute competition, Chandra took home top spot in the clean cluster, Viki took top spots in the toes to bar WOD and the final, and Laurie won the Chipper.  So 306 won all the WODs in this category, incredible.
The final standings saw Laurie Thomson take first, Mel finished third, and Viki made and won the final WOD but was edged off the podium and finished fourth.
In the men's Brute, Nathan would edge out Jeff Woo in the final WOD and bump Jeff off the podium.  Nathan would take third overall, The Woo, fourth.  Stephane finished just outside the top ten and placed 11th.
In the Ladie's Beast category  Laura Wehrkamp took on the top female competitions from the Prairies and finished in 5th place.  She finished 3rd in the Handstand/KBS couplet and third again in the clean cluster.
In the men's Beast category.  Leo continued to show that he has a heart of a lion and strung together his first set of MU and fought hard through all the WODS and finished in 26th.  Aaron "Wonderkid" Parker would finished in tenth after qualifying for the finals with dominating performances in the Toes to Bar WOD (3rd), and the MU/thruster couplet (5th).
Coach had a great couple of days, winning WOD 3,6,and 7, and taking second place in both WOD five and eight, ultimately finishing second.

Our performance at this competition was truly exceptional and is another step and making our Box world class!  Congrats 306 you rocked it!
